An ecological and educational activity called “Let’s Save Nature Together!” was held at Uzhhorod Kindergarten No. 31. Educator Maryna Derbak organized this event to introduce children to the basic knowledge of natural sciences and to draw their parents’ attention to the importance of environmental preservation.

The lesson began with a discussion of the drawings that the kindergarteners had created with their parents. The children were tasked to explain what they drew, how they see our nature, country, and Planet, and what people can do to protect them from pollution!

The children were also given a more thorough explanation of environmental issues by Mrs. Maryna Derbak, including their causes and consequences. After paying close attention to the teacher, the kids watched the “Trash Sorting!” cartoon to reinforce what they had learned.

The information that waste can be beneficial if it is properly sorted raised the most questions in the minds of the children. They showed no less attention in the act of separating trash into several bins. Children learn new skills as they place paper, plastic, and biological materials into imaginary containers of the correct colors.

The problem of environmental pollution remains acute and requires a solution both in Ukraine and around the world. With each of our combined efforts, even a modest step can yield a result! The state of the Earth depends on our hands, both those of adults and children, as illustrated by children’s drawings.

The event was held within the framework of cooperation between between the Institute of Ecological and Religious Studies- IERS (headed by Alexander Bokotey) and the Nature Conservation Union of Germany (NABU BundesverbandNABU International), project coordinators –  Ivan Tymofeiev (NABU),  and financially supported by VGP Foundation.
