The experts from the Institute of Ecological and Religious Studies, Oksana Kremin and Olga Velychkanych, attended a meeting at the Mukachevo Greek Catholic Eparchy‘s Ecological Commission. They focus on working with students of Uzhhorod educational institutions and are frequently involved in educational programs for students in our region.
They discussed the outcomes of the previous year’s work with the Commission’s staff and volunteers and decided on future collaboration. A schedule of kid-friendly environmental and educational initiatives that they aim to carry out as part of the IERS-IRCEF projects of 2023 was presented to the pedagogue at the round table.
The request to hold a new creative competition for children’s works was confirmed by Nataliya Kulya, project coordinator of the Interreligious and Civil Environmental Forum of Eastern Europe (IRCEF). Such occasions bring environmental issues to the public’s attention, according to IRCEF expert, Mykhailo Bilanych.
Experience from the previous year demonstrated that adults who attempt to comprehend the issues depicted in the works of art are just as drawn to them as children are. Many establishments in Uzhgorod and abroad are happy to host exhibitions of these works. We sent some of the works from earlier competitions, for instance, to Germany and Japan.
The engagement of teachers from other regions who are in Uzhhorod as IDPs will be the innovation in the work of Transcarpathian educators this year. Oleksandr Bokotey, the executive director of IRCEF, advised stepping up assistance for IDPs and assisting them to adapt to Transcarpathia.
In Uzhhorod schools, teachers will begin carrying out their programs following the conclusion of the winter break. In the meanwhile, they are organizing coworkers for collaboration and developing specific strategies for training sessions.
