An interesting lesson as a game dedicated to birds was held for 5th-grade students of Uzhhorod Secondary School No. 6 named after Vasyl Grendzha-Donskyi. It was conducted by Olha Velychkanych, an expert at the Institute of Ecological and Religious Studies, Head of the Biology and Research and Experimental Work department of the Transcarpathian Regional Ecological and Naturalistic Center of Students Youth (TRENCSY). At this session, a new set of didactic games “Learning the plant and animal world while playing” was tested, developed by Olga Velychkanych, and published by the Institute of Ecological and Religious Studies with the support of the German Nature Conservation Union – NABU.
While completing the task, young bird experts consolidated their knowledge of migratory and wintering birds of Transcarpathia, guessed riddles, found out how true nature lovers should behave in nature, and solved anagrams and a crossword puzzle. At the end of the class, everyone drew the birds that they particularly liked. Also, Hanna Popovych, the school’s science teacher, was presented with the above-mentioned set of didactic games, which, we hope, will be useful to the teacher and students during classes.
The event was held as part of the cooperation of the Transcarpathian Regional Ecological and Naturalistic Center of Students Youth (TRENCSY) with the Institute of Ecological and Religious Studies (IERS) (headed by Alexander Bokotey) as part of the cooperation of German Nature Conservation Union – NABU (NABU Bundesverband, NABU International), project coordinators: Ivan Tymofeiev (NABU), Nataliya Kulya (IERS).
