On November 4th, 2021 the workshop for school teachers, other groups of tutors and members of NGOs  was held in Khust on the basis of specialized secondary school №3). The main topic of the workshop was «Innovative methods in environmental education», among which an important place is occupied by eco- trainings and eco- games.

We can characterize training as:

– an interesting process of cognition yourself and others;

– communication;

– an effective form of knowledge acquisition;

– a tool for the formation of skills and abilities;

– a form of expanding experience.

The training creates informal, relaxed communication, that opens up many options for the group to develop and solve the problem which they discuss. As a rule, participants are delighted with the training methods, because these methods make the learning process interesting, not boring.

Game as an element of culture is a social phenomenon. This is a relatively independent activity of children and adults, which provides people with the need for rest, entertainment, cognition, the development of spiritual and physical strength. The game is characterized by a bright display of emotions, creativity, imitativeness. Positive emotions can motivate participants to a high degree of activity and a creativeness approaches to solving certain game tasks.

You can’t call a game ecological if it is just funny and chilly. Participants of the eco-game have to perform general tasks aimed at solving environmental, educational and scientific problems.

Participants of the eco-game ought to learn many interesting and useful facts about nature, perform a specific task set before them, draw their own conclusions.

The participants of the workshop also visited eco-training for higher school students “Protection of virgin forests and the problem of poaching”. During the training, teachers received explanations for each stage of the lesson, followed by a separate round table discussion. Also, all participants were keenly interested in outdoor games for the children of all ages.  Notice, that such an event was held for the first time.

The workshop was conducted within the framework of the project «Church and NGOs for environmental education in national parks», jointly implemented by the Institute of Ecological and Religious Studies in cooperation with German Nature and Biodiversity Conservation Union (NABU) (project supervisor – Ivan Tymofeiev).
