Forests are the lungs of our planet and they are of invaluable ecological, social and economic importance. They take part in the formation of the planet’s climate, provide oxygen, reduce harmful emissions, conserve water resources, are the habitat of many plants and animals, provide food and a healthy environment for people, and help preserve soil fertility and landscapes.

On the eve of Forest Worker’s Day, which is celebrated annually on the third Sunday of September, volunteers of the “Everybody can help” center organized an educational excursion to forestry in the village of Ivanivka

After formally congratulating the forestry workers, the children presented homemade houses for birds and bats, souvenirs, and educational posters as a souvenir.

The walk began with an acquaintance with a curtain of conifer plants, where representatives of different continents grow: Lawson cypress, Japanese thuja, China-fir, Japanese cedar, western hemlock-spruce, and Sitka spruce.

They tested their ability to recognize mushrooms, plants, birds, and animals after playing the ecological game. Many nestings for birds, feeders for pheasants, and roe deer were found on the forestry territory.

Wild pheasants, which are bred in a large enclosure, were viewed with great interest. Everyone was amazed at the ability of these brightly colored birds to become invisible against the background of the environment.

Walking through the oak forest, they got to know birds, plants, and mushrooms.

A surprise awaited the children after the excursion. Forestry workers arranged a festive table with various goodies! We express our gratitude for the hospitality and congratulate you on the professional holiday!

The event was held by an IERS expert with the participation of children of IDPs as part of the cooperation of the Institute of Ecological and Religious Studies- IERS (headed by Alexander Bokotey) and the German Nature Conservation Union (NABU Bundesverband NABU International ), project coordinator Ivan TymofeievNataliya Kulya (IERS).
