Children of IDPs planted trees

A practical ecological and educational event on the landscaping of the city took place in Berehovo (Zakarpattia region).  The children of the IDPs joined the landscaping of the count’s backyard in Berehovo under the guidance of a nature lover, ornithologist, and expert of the Institute of Ecological and Religious Studies, Leonid Pokrytiuk. Later, students will return here, look at their trees and remember the pleasant moments which they spent in Transcarpathia.

The participants of the event learned a lot of useful information about the diversity of trees and their role in nature. They also deepened their knowledge about the peculiarities of growing, planting, grafting fruit trees.

The event was held in cooperation with the Institute of Ecological and Religious Studies – IERS (headed by Alexander Bokotey) and the German Nature Conservation Union (#NABU), project coordinator Ivan Tymofeiev.

Berehovo gymnasium students learn to watch birds

Students from the “Opre Roma” gymnasium in Berehovo, including Roma children, recently visited the “Everyone Can Help” volunteer center for an educational excursion. Their goal was to explore the world of bird observation and learn about different bird nest structures and feeders. Fifth-graders of Rativtsi Gymnasium took part in the quest “Find Primroses”

Krystyna Solanska, a teacher at Rativtsi Gymnasium and an eco-activist of the Institute of Ecological and Religious Studies (IERS), organized a search quest named “Find the Primroses” for 5th-grade students who learn in Hungarian. This activity aimed for the students to identify the first spring flowers in the school yard and nearby fields, and to practice saying their names in Ukrainian, English, and Hungarian.
